Dear Maria...I can't stand following all the rules of a diet - but how can I lose weight without going on a diet?
I'ts done all the time. Many people find a diet is a good tool, but some people decide to lose weight and don't go on a special diet. They keep the decision to lose weight in mind and that motivates them to lose weight.
Another thing people do is create their own diets. This is how you can build in ways to not feel so restricted and deprived. You may be much less likely to hate a diet plan that you yourself made up according to your own specific tastes.
Or, you could try this: put smaller portions on your plate at every meal. Researchers at Penn State University tested portion sizes and found that when given larger portions, people automatically ate a greater number of calories than they did when given a standard portion. In other words, larger portions led them to overeat.
