Dear Maria...
I'm always reading about women with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. There's so much written about this.
I don't have that kind of an eating problem at all. I guess you could say it's not so severe. But I do have an eating problem, and it's very troubling to me.
I just overeat much to much, and I weigh about thirty pounds more than I'd like to weigh. I want to look good and be at a healthy weight. I diet, but I either can't stick to the diet plan or else I lose weight and then find ways to gain it back. You've heard that before!
This is so common. So many of my friends are like I am. In some ways, I feel like this kind of eating problem is much more socially acceptable, so you can just live with it. I mean we're not suffering from obesity or anything like that. We're just uncomfortable.
Why isn't this less obvious weight problem studied the way these serious eating problems are? I think this kind of weight problem is prevalent and should be the subject of much more scientific research and popular discussion.
