Sometimes people try to make dieting and losing weight into a science. But it's not. It's an art.
It's never just calories in versus calories out. It's not just metabolism.
What it has to do with above all - if you're a woman - is breaking the habit of using food and eating to make your way through tough times.
It's an art because figuring out why you eat and what you really need to do for yourself - that takes enormous creativity.
I had all the charts - the weight charts, the calorie charts, the how-many-grams of carbohydrate or protein charts - I've got it all stashed away somewhere. But that's not what finally did it for me.
The 60 lbs took courage to lose, the new me takes courage to grow into, the old me still speaks up and needs to be understood.
Like an artist, I continue to create a new day every day, I use what comes from deep within, and I don't pay any attention to the science of it all.
