Here is a strategy you can use when you are determined to lose the weight. It’s called mental contrasting.
Here’s how it works. You think about your weight-loss goal and how it would be to actually be there, right where you want to be. In other words, you imagine a future with a thinner you in it.
Next-and here comes the contrast--you consider the negative realities that are standing in your way. For example, losing the weight takes too much time and effort, you always get distracted because of how much goes on in your life, etc.
Believe it or not, imagining the future you want--and at at the same time acknowledging the negatives that are blocking your way-actually makes your goal more accessible.
How does it do this? Well, the contrast between your desired goal and your negative realities becomes very apparent. the discrepancy between the two helps you understand the need to change your present reality so you can attain that goal. It gives you a very clear call to action.
