So what would you say if I told you I’m thinking of getting out of this crazy diet racket altogether—I mean, for good. Would you say I’m wrong?
Do you think it’s crazy for me to want to stop doing something over and over again that does me no good in the end? Is that so kooky-crazy?
Am I a thin woman? Take a look at me. Am I? Well, guess what. I went on three different diets in the last year! And yet, this is how I look.
So what is it about going on a diet that’s had me so utterly hooked on it? I think it’s been the promise it holds:
“You will be thin, if only you do what I say, to the letter.”
Sounds good, but that “to the letter” thing is what I never can do. And then I get impatient, thinking I just can’t do it. And then—you guessed it—I give up.
So what would you think if I told you I’m cashing in my diet chips. I’ll find a new way to lose my unwanted weight, something that will actually work for me.
What? You think I’ll never do that? You think I’m destined to be a fat failure?
That’s what you think. Just watch me.
